One Of The World's Best Places - Olympia WA

For years I've been telling people how great Olympia is as a place to live, work, and play. In the 30 plus years I've lived here, I've seen incredible growth. Nonetheless, Olympia retains much of it's small town feel. Downtown Olympia looks much the same today as it did 30 years ago. Most of the changes have involved city improvements, mostly to Olympia's beautiful waterfront areas. The boardwalk along Budd Bay's marina's and port is fantastic, as is the park around Capitol Lake.

Olympia is the capital of Washington State with a Capitol Campus as nice as any I've seen. The political activity surrounding the Capitol adds interest, as does our Evergreen State College. With our quality of life, low crime, great schools, easy access to Puget Sound and our many lakes, I definitely think of Olympia as one of the world's very best places.

But don't take my word for it, here are some links to articles:

Olympia - My Best Place To Live

Olympia, the capitol city of the Evergreen State - Washington - is a truly great place to live. Olympia typically ranks toward the top of 'Best Places' lists by Money, MSNBC, and others. As one of the world's best places to live, Olympia has it all; moderate climate, great schools, vibrant downtown, and a magnificent outdoor environment.

Although Olympia, and Western Washington as a whole, is well known for it's rainfall, many consider the rain a worthwhile tradeoff. It is, after all, the Evergreen State. The weather systems coming in from the Pacific Ocean bring the benifits of lush forests, ample wind to power our sailboats, and generally fresh marine air. It can be a little trying in the dead of winter, January and February, when the days are short and there seems a constant drizzle and gray skies, but then Spring, Summer, and Fall come along and winter memories fade right away.

Olympia is centrally located in Western Washington between Seattle and Portland, Oregon. It's great to be able to enjoy the big city culture, just an hour's drive, but return to the the small town atmosphere of Olympia. In less than two hours, you can be in Seattle or Portland, enjoy a day at the Pacific Ocean, or hike Mt Rainier or the Olympics. But if you live in Olympia and it's water you seek, you're only talking a couple of minutes drive.

Olympia marks the Southern most tip of Washington's unrivaled inland sound. The Puget Sound, offers Olympians a unique water experience. From Olympia, you can cruise to Seattle, Canada, Alaska, or out to the Pacific Ocean and around the world. Boating is a big part of the Northwest experience, people from all over the world come here for the boating.

Olympia is truly my best place to live. I've traveled the United States and the world and I keep coming back. If you'd like to learn more about my best place, Olympia, please send me and email at becky@networksre.com or leave a comment below.
